Buying Comparison
Choosing between the original Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro and the newer Booster Pro X2? The four familiar core modes remain, but X2 adds three newer modes, a dual head design and extra app connected controls.
Quick decision: compare the original Booster Pro if the four core modes already cover what you want from the device. Compare Booster Pro X2 if you specifically want Dual Mode, Mask Mode, AI recommendations through the AGE-R app, six intensity levels or the newer dual head hardware.

This is a research based comparison, not a claim of hands on testing. We checked Medicube's current product information for both generations and matched the two models to their current Amazon UK product pages. We focus on differences that can change the buying decision rather than comparing separate brand published outcome percentages as though they were a direct trial.
| Decision point | Booster Pro | Booster Pro X2 |
|---|---|---|
| Selectable core modes | Booster, Air Shot, MC, Derma Shot | Booster, Air Shot, MC, Derma Shot |
| Additional modes | None beyond the four core care modes | Dual, Mask and AI |
| Intensity control | Original generation controls | Six intensity levels |
| Head design | Original Booster Pro head | Newer dual head design |
| AGE-R app | Yes, for guidance, tracking and device controls | Yes, with AI recommendations and Dual Mode customisation among the newer functions |
| Sheet mask specific mode | No dedicated Mask Mode | Yes. Medicube says Mask Mode is for essence rich sheet masks |
| Manufacturer hardware comparison | Baseline model for the X2 comparison | Medicube states 2X measured power density and 2X electrodes versus Booster Pro |
Medicube's 2X wording refers to a measured hardware comparison. It should not be read as proof that X2 produces twice the visible result for every user.
Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro
This is the simpler choice if Booster, Air Shot, MC and Derma Shot are the functions you actually want and the newer X2 extras do not change your routine.
Medicube Booster Pro X2
X2 is the model to compare if the new mode set, app connected customisation or upgraded dual head hardware is the reason you are considering the newer generation.
Medicube says X2 can combine compatible modes through Dual Mode. Custom combinations are managed through the AGE-R app. This matters most if you want to reduce the number of separate mode passes in one session.
X2 adds a dedicated Mask Mode. Medicube specifies essence rich sheet masks for this mode rather than gel masks. If sheet masks are not part of your routine, this extra mode may carry less weight in the purchase decision.
Medicube describes AI Mode as an AGE-R app feature that recommends device routines using information about skincare habits and skin condition. The manufacturer also says the standard X2 modes can be used without the app.
Medicube describes X2 as using a larger dual head with twice the electrodes and twice the measured power density of the original Booster Pro. That is a hardware specification comparison, not evidence that visible skin outcomes will automatically double.

X2 does not remove the original four core modes. The more useful upgrade question is whether one of the additions solves something you actually want to change.
If you want combined mode sessions, dedicated sheet mask use, AI recommendations or the updated hardware, X2 gives you new options. If none of those changes matter to you, the specification difference alone does not establish that replacing a working Booster Pro is necessary.
Start with the functions rather than the generation name. Both devices cover Booster, Air Shot, MC and Derma Shot. X2 adds more ways to combine, personalise and use those device routines.
Check the live Amazon UK listings for both exact models before ordering, particularly because product titles, bundles and colour variants can change.
A specification table can show which modes and controls exist. It cannot establish which device will give one individual a better visible result.
Medicube publishes separate clinical and consumer testing claims for each generation, but those figures should not be treated as a direct comparison unless the devices were tested against each other under the same protocol. This page therefore keeps the decision focused on model features and manufacturer stated hardware differences.
If you use prescription skincare, have a skin condition, use a medical device or are unsure whether an electrical facial device is appropriate for you, follow the manufacturer's safety guidance and seek professional advice where needed.
